The Standout
College application, auditions, and acceptance and mentoring for the aspiring music major, music minor, and dual major through the process and beyond!
THE STANDOUT
“No one cares how much you know until they know how much you care”. -Brené Brown
This has been a guiding principle for me as I mentor students seeking admission to music schools, and those who wish to continue their musical study as music minors or dual majors in college. I am a CONNECTOR; I always have been.
I see who students are, and help them choose the optimum path for their college careers and beyond through assessing their strengths, helping them to use those strengths to gain not only admission but excellent scholarships and financial aid packages at colleges where they will thrive, not just “get in”. I help students identify and apply to their best choices, and coach them through the process from start to finish.
My 4-month program is geared toward those who are studying an instrument but who need and want that extra edge to help them through the college search, application, and admissions process. I will help you set up timelines, spreadsheets, assist you and your private instrumental teacher with choosing the appropriate repertoire, be an extra set of ears in assessing where you need to keep working, and guide you through the audition and applications process through Zoom meetings, email, direct messaging, and video exchange.
Whether to gain admission to an undergraduate program, graduate school or to prepare for professional life as a musician, helping you achieve your dreams and goals are what light me up. I strive to ignite and inspire those I mentor and/or teach in my studio. If you would like to work with me, DM for more information. Let’s ignite your artistry and potential together!
Here’s what you can expect:
1. Begin working with me in the Spring of your Junior year, or the fall of your senior year, from September - December, or from January - May
2. I will guide you through the weekly and daily steps that you take through the entire process.
3. Monthly feedback on their audition preparation where I listen to what they have done and give feedback on their readiness and progress. This would be in addition to and in conjunction with their private instructor as an adjunct to it, not to supplant it.
4. Bi-Weekly one-on-one check-ins review of their application process wherein we walk through what schools, teachers, audition timelines, setting up spreadsheets, and other requirements such as letters of recommendation.
5. Help with financial aid negotiations, decisions and financial aid questions.
